The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 hours in a day are not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar... and the coffee...
A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand. The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, " I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things-your God, family, your children, your health, your friends, and your favorite passions-things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, and your car. The sand is everything else-the small stuff."

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you. Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first, the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked. It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

For those in the know, this isn’t a huge shock. LeBron has been spotted warming up for Cavs games wearing number 6 (one night even slipping it on by accident while sitting the bench), wore that number on his way to Olympic gold, and oh yeah, he’s been saying it since at least February 2009: “If the NBA retired 23 because of Michael like baseball did with Jackie Robinson [42], I would definitely switch it. Maybe I would someday, we’ll see.”

Stussy recently sat down with the son of famed illustrator Basil Wolverton for a chat regarding his father’s legendary art while producing a feature highlighting its new line of t-shirts showcasing Wolverton’s timeless style. A release for the tees can be expected tomorrow, November 14th while an introduction into the feature can be seen below.

One of the most well-respected cartoonists and illustrators from the golden age of comics book, Basil Wolverton was best known for his grotesque caricatures and work with Mad Magazine. Last Summer, The Gladstone Gallery in New York City exhibited a retrospective of his work, showcasing it for the first time in a gallery setting. For out Holiday Collection, we licensed some of Basil’s famous portraits for a series of t-shirts.

If I haven’t told you already today. Fuck You.
And I say that from the most honest place in my body, my heart. And that fuck you is not directed to anyone special, and doesn’t matter if you knew me your whole life or just meet me the other day.

I am in the same city of 6th sense makes sense (no pun intended) why I am walking around like you all ghost. Growth of the years has shown me not to be scared, when they get to close they think they can hurt; I tried to build a wall but I failed and it was knocked down. So now I am just sitting pretty behind my fence hoping that I don’t have any intruders within the next couple days. I came to Philadelphia for my mother and I want to make that clear if it was my choice some of you would of never met me. But regardless you did, it’s been a long stint without a note only because my mind has been too dark; but this morning an angel gave me a flashlight. Now I am looking through every aspect of my life like its spring-cleaning, all this shit can go.
15 minutes away is way too close; so as I look for someone to further my education I am smoking an L. Spazzing on whoever thinking they can take it; so listen when I say back up please give me some space. I am on the 8th level and your on the 3rd, how the fuck is your advice going to help me. I am going sit back and let you find someone who really knows me; so they can tell you the same but you wont ever find that person.

Tired of you girls hitting my phone; for sex. Just chill out, take a step back and look at our relationship if you hit me more than I hit you I think you already know whats up. I don’t want you to say I woke up on the wrong side of the bed, the word is cold hearted; and I am just reflecting what I seen all my life.

The slim will come with a 120GB drive, and will be 32% smaller and 36% lighter than the standard PlayStation 3, as well as using 34% less power. The $300 price will apply to all PlayStation 3s starting tomorrow. The Slim will be available everywhere by the first week of September.

The 80GB PS3 (current model) will be discounted to $300, whereas the 160GB PS3 will be $400. There will be a new PS3 logo as well as modifications to the official name from PLAYSTATION 3 to PlayStation 3 as to not be shouting all the time. It’ll also have a BRAVIA Sync feature that’ll allow you to control the PS3’s XMB with your Sony TV remote as long as they’re connected via HDMI. And the TV will automatically turn off the PS3 when the TV goes off.

There’s also a vertical stand retailing for $24 on September 3. Whether or not you can stand it up vertically for long periods of time without the stand is unknown. Sony also says that they’re eliminating the feature of installing other operating systems on the Slim, so no more Linux. Oh, and there will only be two USB ports.

Coming on the heels of the latest presentation of the Porsche 911 Turbo for 2010 comes a more performance-minded creation in the form of the 911 GT3 RS. The smooth linear power delivery courtesy of a naturally-aspirated 3.8 L engine brings to the table more power than its regular GT3 counterpart with a 15 horsepower boost resulting in a total of 450 ponies. Delivering even more engine power, lower weight and shorter transmission ratios, as well as upgraded body and suspension components than all previous GT3s, the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS sets the foundation for homologating the race version of the 911 GT3 and will be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show September 17-27, 2009.

The heart of the new, uncompromising GT3 RS is the power unit. Like the engine featured in the 911 GT3, the naturally-aspirated RS power unit now displaces 3.8 liters and delivers even more power, while revving up even faster to its 8500 rpm redline. It now delivers 450 horsepower, 15 more horsepower than its 911 GT3 counterpart. Even with a specific output of more than 118 hp per liter from the six-cylinder boxer engine, the power unit in the new GT3 RS remains fully suitable for everyday use.

The new 911 GT3 RS comes exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox optimized for short gearshift travel, low weight and high efficiency. To enhance the level of performance throughout the entire range of engine and road speed, the transmission comes with shorter ratios than found in the 911 GT3, deliberately conceding an even higher potential top track speed.

Dynamic engine mounts are standard and serve to improve the car’s handling to an even higher level. Depending on driving conditions, the mounts change in their stiffness and damping effect, improving the connection between the engine and the body when driving under very lively conditions, yet allow for more comfortable conditions during everyday street use.

Porsche is also introducing another new option in 2010 for the GT3 RS, a lithium-ion battery. Delivered with the car and, when replacing the conventional lead-acid battery, it reduces the weight by more than 10 kg or 22 lb and is mainly intended for the track.

To further improve its sporting behavior, the new 911 GT3 RS comes with a purpose-built and specially set up PASM suspension, a wider front and rear track and corresponding bodywork.

The front axle comes with nine-inch-wide wheels running on 245/35 ZR 19 sports tires while the rear axle features twelve-inch-wide wheels incorporating 325/30 ZR 19 sports tires.

The new 911 GT3 RS shows its close connection to motorsport through its dynamic looks, in particular by its low ride height, the new, extra large carbon-fiber rear wing and titanium exhaust system.

The 2010 911 GT3 RS goes on sale in the U.S. in early spring of 2010 and will be priced at $132,800.

This bottle of Opus One is low but my spirits are high my friends. I am about 2 hours away from Toronto, CA where I will be spending the next chunk of time recovering from a surgery that I now must have. I embarked on this tour with a torn ACL, MCL, and LCL and due to the events that happened the other night lord only knows what other damage I have done. On the bright side I will begin the reflecting and soul searching that its going to take to make this album and my outfit on the night I fell was crack. I will forever push myself beyond the limits despite advice and recommendations given because even with this new found success I am still the kid who wanted this more than anything in the world. Its funny when I read comments from previous fans who have lost interest because of the radio play and exposure I have. I just want to assure anyone reading that nothing has changed on my end. I refuse to get comfortable, I refuse to fall in line and follow anyone elses formulas. I still work as if So Far Gone had never dropped and I'm still trying to figure out how I'm going to gain entry to this game.

’ve had this for a minute but recently got a few requests to up it for the Blind I faithful. Nas was about 18 years old when he recorded most of the tracks that were to be featured on his demo tape. His lyrical prowess was astonishing for a 18 year old kid, but what was even crazier was that he dropped out of school in 8th grade and still managed to be so technically sound with his wordplay and vocabulary. Attribute that to his study of the Five Percenter lessons, the Bible, and the Qu’ran. Long story short, Nas was and continues to be a rebel to America. Grab this piece of history and throw it in the archives for a rainy day when you feel like stunting on someone. It has been reported that New York City artist Dash Snow aka Sacer has passed away from a heroin overdose. Starting out in the graffiti scene, he eventually made his way to the fine art scene. Snow helped found the NYC graff crew Irak as well as showing in many galleries in New York and all over the world. For those of you who dont know much about the talented young artist you can read more about him in the article by the NY Times, dubbed “Warhol’s Children“.

Snow passed young at the age of 27.

When I first seen her face, I had to give her respect only because she was with her man. Seen them both walking out the supermarket, she was holding all the bags and he was just smoking a black and mild happened to hop into a cab. Got on the phone and never looked back, she was posse to meet him at the house; but how was she going to do that. She had no cash, and then she was looking confused in the parking lot with no idea what she should do now. Both of her hands filled with plastic bags.

I got in my car, not even thinking about the world. I couldn’t get over her beauty; I couldn’t get over her struggling with those bags. Its was getting dark, not saying she couldn’t hold her own I just knew I would feel better about the situation if I would at least ask if she needed a ride.

So then I asked: “ Excuses me miss, I see you were having trouble with all your groceries, I was wondering if you wanted a ride?... If not I understand you don’t want to put your life in the hands of a stranger, but I am more than that.”

She was confused at first on my initial intentions, and what I had planned to do with her. She didn’t know if her body was going to end up on the 6 o’clock news, I cant blame her on the thought things happen. I don’t know if the shoe was on the other foot if I would of done the same thing. Regardless she got in my car, I got out and took those bags off her hands.

By time I dropped her off we had already exchanged numbers, from the begging I tried to show her what a real man is suppose to do. Did things that she wasn’t use to, caught her off guard; open doors for her, looked her in the eyes and told her I want to make her my Queen.

Things were moving fast, maybe too fast. Can’t complain on speed I rather am in the fast life than not moving at all. Two months later, she went from a regular visitor at my apartment to moving in. All because of a toothbrush, now I am glad it happened just wish it would of happened a little slower.

She brought more than her baggage when she moved in.

Tried to tell her she wouldn’t have to look back, but I guess she felt that it was all going downhill like the others. I tried to bring out the Queen in her, now her X is calling collect, from behind the wall. I am asking her, how he got the number; she got scared than I told her. “ I don’t know what you think this is, I am laid back and your known for getting pimped smacked” I was just trying to show what love really was but she was accustom of the life she had so I let her keep it.

When you make a girl leave her man, you never really know where she stand, how do you know she really yours. Someone can easily do the same to you.

Fork in the Road

Young enough to still have dreams, about the things I want to do, and how I want to change the world. As I sit here, and watch my time run out, I am lost. Listening to everyone except myself, you would think the second quarter just started and I still had a chance to make a difference. But I am looking at the game, from the eyes of the losing coach in the fourth quarter and if I don’t switch up now; I never will. The way I smile you would think I never had a problem in life, but now I am stuck between a rock and a hard place, all you can do is push. But my arms been tired and the only thing that keeps me moving are the two things under my torso.

It’s funny how a year can change your entire outlook on life. I remember when I got that cherry letter in the mail, felt disrespected like the least thing they could of did was send it in a regular envelope. Either way my social life is at an all time high, all because of what Philly has done for me. I don’t know why I feel some type of way, when I look around I is not the only one with a plan; I am not the only one with my head on backwards focusing on the past. Thinking about the today and the day before, but never about tomorrow and the next day. Kicking it with my friends, I feel like they all saying if “life is going to pass me by at least I want to watch.” Am I posse to understand the world at the age of 20? I doubt it but I don’t think I have ten years to pass the class and finally understand the meaning of it.

All this is a crossroad, but I might as well call it a fork in the road. I know I get a little emotional when my life is hanging in the balance, but what am I suppose to do. If I stand here, on the destroyed concrete that is to say I will ever walk away. They say Jersey roots and Global reach, but I been down this road before and it only got me to Philadelphia. Everyone says they see the potential, but I don’t know where it is going to take for me to reach success. When is this potential going to get me more than a Coke and a smile? I need more. Matter fact I am striving for more, I cant sit around and watch the next day pass me. I look at everything that has ever happened to me in this state of mind and it hasn’t got me far. A few tickets, a crazy ex girlfriend, and two handfuls of frienemies. Nothing changes in a year except my location and residency. I said 21, I should be away from this garbage but the smell of Jersey follows you across the Betsy Rose and the Benjamin Franklin. Either way I need to make a choice by next week, so I will keep you updated.
